What new food trends might we see in 2017?   Many food websites are making predictions for trends you will see in 2017.   Here are some of them. Eat This, Not That is predicting these 2017 Food Trends : Sour Dough bread – if you like it, great as you will be seeing more sour dough bread in 2017.   Eat This, Not That believes it is because sour dough bread is fine to eat for those who are sensitive to gluten.   (But still not fine for those who are gluten intolerant.)   And some experts say the bacteria in sour dough bread is great for your digestive system, so enjoy every bite. Healthier Foods in Flight

Can you eat healthier when flying?   We just got back from a trip to the West Coast.   Delta now offers “Flight Fuel” with a range of healthier food choices.   Downside is the cost, no more “free lunches” on Delta.   They still offer free beverages but to fuel up, you pay up.   The good side is they now offer quite a few healthier choices for a snack or a meal.    Healthy Snacks Fruit and Cheese – you get 3 cheeses:   Muenster, Apple-smoked Gouda, and Vermont Sharp White Cheddar, some Flatbread crackers, almonds, red grapes, one strawberry and if they remember some chocolate.   We were supposed to get Ghirardelli’s dark chocolate square but this was missing from our snack packs on the west bound flight.   We ordered it again on our East Bound flight and didn’t get Ghirardelli chocolate but Hershey chocolate covered Acai Berries which were quite good. Can eating healthier be simplified?   Many people think eating healthier is too hard, one has to give up too many of their favorite foods.   But this week, Whole Foods Market came up with Simple Changes for Life-Long Health .    What are some easy, simple changes you could make for a healthier you? Focus on nutrient-rich foods –   Add fruits, vegetables, whole grains to your day.   Add a fruit to lunch and 2 vegetables to dinner.   Focus on color, the more colorful fruits and vegetables you add, the healthier your choices.   Choose whole grains at breakfast, a whole grain bagel, whole grain English muffin, whole grain cereal. Eat foods closer to nature - these are foods closer to the farm, an apple vs. apple juice or a soda.   100% real juice and not Sunny D or Hi-C.
